A weekend workshop following the footsteps of some of the most famous American artists. Starting with Edward Hopper we learn how to use lines and shading to show a specific mood or atmosphere. From Georgia O'Keeffe we discover new concepts of composition using natural forms found in nature. The style of abstract expressionists, such as Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko teaches us to let our inner feelings guide us in painting a picture. Finally we arrive at Pop Art with Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns among others. An appropriate selection of music will accompany us on this artistic journey. This course is also suitable for beginners. Your guide is an American artist living and working in Heidelberg. Please don't worry about your English level!
Charcoal, pastel, and acrylic paint will be provided for you. Please bring with you a good selection of paint brushes of different types and sizes, something to paint on: large sized (at least DIN A2) cardboard, canvas or masonite (mdf boards). Paint rags and of course not your best clothes.
